13 July 1974 The first UK National Hang Gliding Championships were held at Steyning Hill, Sussex. Some 80 aircraft took part. 13 July 1979 The McDonnell Douglas DC-10 was re-cleared for flight, after being grounded on 25 May, following the fatal accident at Chicago of an American Airlines DC-10.
