26 July 1971
- The Apollo 15 mission started, resulting in the 4th Moon landing. It is distinguished by the first use of the Lunar Roving Vehicle, driven by Apollo 15 commander David R. Scott. The mission ended on 7 August, when the crew splashed in the ocean.
- Cam-Air (Cameroon Airlines) is formed by the government, beginning scheduled operations on 1 November 1971.

26 July 1972
NASA announced that Rockwell International Corporation had been selected to build the Space Shuttle Orbiter, awarding the company an initial US$ 450 million to cover the first 2 years of development.

26 July 1973
A first flight was made by the Sikorsky S-69 Advancing Blade Concept (ABC) research helicopter. The use of two co-axial contra-rotating rigid rotors made it possible to dispense with an anti-torque tail rotor.

26 July 1991
Aeroflot and British Airways announced the formation of a new airline: Air Russia, to open air routes between Russia and the West.

26 July 1993
The 1000th Boeing 747 came off the production line, 26 years after the first 747 was built.
