17 July 2025
During the Airborne Public Safety Association Conference (APSCON) 2025, Bell Textron announced that the Columbus Department of Public Safety signed a purchase agreement for two Bell 505s. The aircraft duo will modernize the Department, which serves the nearly two million residents of the Columbus Metropolitan Area.
With its new acquisition, the Columbus Division of Police will use its Bell aircraft for public safety missions, including aerial patrol, airborne law enforcement support, and assisting ground-based officers, as well as other search and rescue operations. In the coming months, the Columbus Division of Police plans to send its pilots to train on the Bell 505 platform at the Bell Training Academy in Fort Worth, Texas.
