General


Twin-engined jet airliner; 120 - 145 passengers. Aircraft is a short fuselage derivative of A320 (which see). Airbus Corporate Jet is a derivative of the A319. ICAO type designation is A319. Price of a single aircraft in 2001 was approximately US$ 49 million.

History


Program launched in June 1993. First flight (F-WWDB) on 29 August 1995. Certification and initial customer delivery (HB-IPV to ILFC) in April 1996. A total of 1138 have been ordered by 31 October 2005; 765 had been delivered by that date.


Airframe


wing: Low-wing; wing has 25 sweepback at 25% chord, 5.11 dihedral. Wing is equipped with ailerons, spoilers, flaps and leading edge slats.
fuselage: Fuselage of conventional construction; non-structural parts of lower fuselage built of composites. Seven frames shorter than A320; 1.60 m (5.25 ft) forward of wing, 2.13 m (7.00 ft) aft of wing removed.
tail: Rudder, tailplane and elevators made entirely of CFRP.
landing gear: Tricycle landing gear retracts hydraulically. Twin wheels on each unit; 4-wheel main bogeys optional. Carbon brakes with ABS standard.


Powerplant


- Two turbofan engines, alternatively:
- CFM56-5B5, -5B5/P, -5A4: delivering 97.9 kN (22000 lbs) thrust each.
- CFM56-5B6, -5B6/P, -5B6/2P, 5A5: delivering 104.5 kN (23500 lbs) thrust each.
- CFM56-5B7, 5B7/P: delivering 120.1 kN (27000 lbs) thrust each.
- IAE V2522-A5: delivering 102.5 kN (23040 lbs) thrust each.
- IAE V2524-A5: delivering 108.9 kN (24480 lbs) thrust each.
- IAE V2527M-A5: delivering 110.3 kN (24800 lbs) thrust each.
- Total fuel capacity is 23860 l (6303 USG) standard. Maximum fuel capacity with extra tanks is 29660 l (7835 USG).
- Honeywell 36-300 APU standard.


Systems


- Fly-by-wire system: Thales/SFENA FBW system using 5 computers with fully redundant architecture. Pilots use sidestick controllers.
- Electrical system: powered by 2 90kVA generators from main engines; 3rd generator powered by APU.
- Hydraulic system: pressure 207 bar (3000 lb/sq in).

Avionics


Aircraft has a complete, integrated, ARINC 700 avionics suite. Honeywell air data and inertial reference system. Each pilot has 2 EFIS displays; 2 ECAM displays are mounted central on the instrument panel.


Accommodation


Cabin is pressurized and air conditioned. Normal accommodation is for 8 Super First and 116 Economy class passengers (124 total); all-economy layout passenger number is 145. Maximum number of passengers with 2 extra overwing emergency exits is 156; this layout is used by easyJet, among other airlines. A total of 4 LD3-46W cargo containers can be carried in the cargo hold. Two mechanised bulk loading systems the sliding carpet and the telescopic bin - are optional. These systems can be installed in both forward and aft fuselage and mean that baggage can be loaded by a single person inside the aircraft. A digital cabin management system controls of interior lighting, temperature, audio/video and other systems through a centralised data system.
